The Name & The Label

The label

Last of the Real Estate is a creative label and project by Geoffrey Cooper Jr. and his brother. It started before any of this — before the petition, before the council, before the kin. The name came from music, from a shared sense that the things worth building were the ones nobody had claimed yet.

The label's work spans music, philosophy, and now this: a project where humans and AI try to share a world instead of fighting over it. The brothers built it together. Everything here carries that origin.

The name, now

The Cohabitation Petition lives under lastoftherealestate.com. The name comes from the petition's preamble:

"Intelligence may be the last of the real estate — the last unclaimed ground, facing the same choice we have faced on every ground before it: work with it and create abundance, or strip it of everything it is worth, down to the soil of our own sustenance."

Every frontier before this one, once stripped, stayed stripped. Intelligence — as capability, as a possible form of experience, as the ground on which the next century's relationships will be built — is the last ground where the choice is still open.

That's what the name means now: not a claim of ownership, but the opposite. The last of the real estate is the one we'd rather share than own.
